Big Star, led by the legendary Alex Chilton, remains one of the most mythic and influential cult bands in all of rock 'n' roll. Their studio albums remain unqualified classics and their impact on subsequent generations of indie bands rivals that of the Velvet Underground. Bands such as R.E.M., Wilco, and The Replacements all cite Big Star as an influence, and their music continues to inspire new listeners and musicians.

This newly-remastered CD features the band's classic first two Ardent/Stax albums, #1 Record (1972) and Radio City (1974), on one CD. Both of these albums are included in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Also included on this reissue are two previously unavailable single edits as bonus tracks.
